Had the pleasure of working on this POI for the new Fortnite map. Art direction was provided by Andy Carroll. Concept art was made by the very talented Debbie Yeo, Yogi Hughes was LD and I also had the unique opportunity to work with Daniel Thiger, who helped develop a procedural substance material library for the Fortnite env. art dept. to speed up the texturing pipeline and delivering consistent, unified materials across the game.
Daniel also made POI specific displaced materials for this POI, like the terracotta roof, coffered ceilings and some of the ornamental floors seen throughout the ruins.
Lumen and nanite played a huge part in the making of these POIs, with lumen doing a lot of heavy lifting tying all environmental elements together in a visually pleasing way and nanite adding a crazy amount of detail to the meshes.
