Overwatch Hollywood

This map comes a very close second to my most favorite map I got to work on for Overwatch. I was responsible for the majority of Hollywood boulevard where I did the architecture. The screening movie theatre at the end of the map was also done by me. I was also responsible for the background buildings as well as various props like planters, railings, awnings, billboards etc. Bram Eulaers did the majority of the rest of the architecture throughout the map. Andrew Klimas did the very iconic alien invasion movie set along with some other prominent props like the moviestar trailer seen in the end of the map. The prop team, led by Nathan Bowden did an outstanding job on the props and Dion Rogers was responsible for the foliage and lighting. We all pitched in on the set dressing and decal placement. Bill Petras was art lead.

There are so many different areas in this map, more than most other maps we did at the time: There's the western set, Hollywood boulevard, movie sets, screening rooms, theatres etc. We were worried that the large amount of areas would confuse the player and make navigation difficult but those worries were swept aside when we started playing the map. It is such a fun place to explore and the transitions between areas feels natural and smooth. It is a beautiful, inviting map and I hope you all had as much fun playing it as we had making it.
