This is my take of a concept originally made for Doom3 by the very talented Kenneth Scott. I have been a fan of Kenneth's work for years and this is the one concept that I always wanted to make but never pulled the trigger on until now. I also took inspiration from the latest version of the Spider mastermind, made by Denzil O'Neill, who's design is way more faithful to the original, iconic doom Endboss than mine.
This guy was made in Maya and Zbrush, Textured in Painter and rendered in Marmoset. I cant call this a low poly model ready for a game as the fans in my computer sound like they're ready for take-off when I open this scene. That being said it is baked down from a hi poly model and crafted the way I would do a game asset. This model is a deviation from my usual bright, stylized type of work but variety is the best spice in life, so I wanted to try doing something different.
